8 10 2009

hoboken-voter-registrationTrenton-The deadline to register to vote or to submit a change of address for the General Election is this Tuesday, October 13, 2009. The registration form is available on the League of Women Voters of New Jersey’s web site, http://www.lwvnj.org.

Voter registration forms must be postmarked before or on Tuesday, October 13 or walked into your county Superintendent of Elections (Commissioner of Registration) office before they close on that day. Please note that Monday, October 12 is a federal holiday and therefore most offices will be closed as well as the post office. Voter registration forms can also be found at your local DMV as well as many post offices and libraries.

The deadline to apply by mail for a mail-in ballot is October 27. Completed applications must be mailed to the County Clerk in your area. Registered voters may apply in person at the County Clerk’s office up until 3 p.m. November 2. Anyone who chooses to and applies in time may vote by mail-in ballot. Please be aware that if you apply for a mail-in ballot and receive it, you must vote using that ballot and cannot vote at the polls. If you apply for a ballot and do not receive it in time, you may vote at your regular polling place using a provisional ballot. Mail-in ballot applications, along with additional information about mail-in ballots can be found on the League of Women Voters of New Jersey’s web site, http://www.lwvnj.org.
