New Technology Helps Find Rutherford Woman

Bergen County, NJ- Rutherford Police found an 82-year-old woman who went missing last Friday after successfully employing A Child Is Missing, a national alert program that the borough signed up for earlier in the year.
The woman was reported missing from her home on Mortimer Avenue at about 11:44 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 9. Police began a search of the area and at about 1:15 p.m., Rutherford Police contacted “A Child Is Missing.” Police give the program’s technicians a description of the missing person and they then use satellite mapping system to send automated calls to homes within the area.
About half an hour later at around 1:45 p.m. police received a call from a Donaldson Avenue resident who reported seeing a woman walking down the street who matched the description.
